Second Quarter Run Helps Aquinas Top Women's Basketball
(Lansing, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's basketball team played their second consecutive home game Tuesday evening, as they hosted the Aquinas College Saints in a WHAC matchup.
Cleary built an early lead in the first quarter, but the Saints would come back to tie the game through the first ten minutes of action at 11-11. Aquinas' second quarter was a dominant one, as they held the Cougars to only 7 points, while scoring 20 themselves, and the visitors took a 13 point lead into the halftime break.
Cleary would win the third quarter, but only by a point, and the deficit would be too much to overcome down the stretch, as Aquinas went on to win by a 75-59 scoreline.
Mileisha Rodriguez posted her first NAIA double-double, as she had a team high 15 points and 10 rebounds, to go with 4 steals and 3 blocks. Taedom Stein and Amy Jackson each added 13 points for the Cougars.
Cleary drops to 0-6 overall, 0-3 in the WHAC. The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday, December 2, when they host the Siena Heights Saints. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM at Gannon Gymnasium on the campus of Lansing Community College.
