(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar ACHA hockey team struggled to get things going in game two of the weekend series vs. the UM-Dearborn Wolverines Saturday evening at 140 Ice Den.
After a Wolverine goal, Cam Thomas scored an unassisted shorthanded goal to tie the game early in the first period. Two more Wolverine goals later, Wayne Taiman scored an unassisted goal, cutting the deficit to 3-2. UM-Dearborn would then go on a 6-0 run into the third period, taking a 10-2 lead before Jonny Gardiner scored, with an assist from Wes Smith.
Scott Kennedy would suffere the loss in goal, making 8 saves. Liam Kocur made 34 saves in relief.
Cleary drops to 3-9 overall, 2-6 in the WHAC. The Cougars will be back at 140 Ice Den next Friday, when they take on the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals in a non-conference matchup. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:30 PM ET.
