(Saginaw, MI)-- After losing game one of their weekend series to Saginaw Valley State, Cleary hit the road and bounced back in a big way to split the series.
Cleary would score two goals in the opening stanza, sandwiched around a Cardinal goal. The first came from Ben Gledhow, with an assist from Jonny Gardiner, and the second came from Brendyn Galloner, with assists from Cam Thomas and Levi Herauf, giving Cleary a 2-1 lead. In the second period, a pair of SVSU goals would give the hosts the lead at 3-2, but Cleary responded, scoring three goals in a four minute window to retake the lead themselves. The fourth goal was scored by the captain Erik Wafer, who got assists from Jonny Gardiner and Bennett Sheppard, and the fifth goal was scored by Wes Smith, with assists from Cam Thomas and Zack Wiener. Cleary's offense kept the pressure on, as they added three more third period goals before giving up a garbage time goal to narrow the deficit some. The sixth goal was scored by Jonny Gardiner, with assists from Bennett Sheppard and Ben Gledhow. The seventh goal was scored by Ben Gledhow for his second of the game, and was assisted by Jonny Gardiner and Bennett Sheppard.
