(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar ACHA hockey team bounced back from a 2-1 loss Friday evening, and took game two of their weekend series with the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils 4-2 Friday evening at 140 Ice Den.
After giving up the game's first two goals, the Cougars found themselves trailing the Blue Devils 2-0 in the second period, when Cleary would storm back to tie the game with a pair of goals. Cleary's first goal came on the penalty kill, when Billy Simms slotted the puck home, with an assist from Wes Smith. Six minutes later, the games was tied when Wes Smith scored, with an assist from Billy Simms.
In the third period, Devon Campbell scored the game-winner, with an assist from Wes Smith with just over six minutes left in the game. With LTU desperate to tie, they pulled their goalie, and Cleary capitalized when Wes Smith scored an empty net goal to make it 4-2.
Liam Kocur picked up the win in net, after making 38 saves on 40 shots faced. Cleary finishes the regular season 2-2 against LTU.
Cleary improves to 7-13 overall, 5-9 in the WHAC. The Cougars will be back in action next Friday evening, when they host the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a non-conference matchup at 140 Ice Den. The puck will drop at 7:30 PM on Friday.
