(Ann Arbor, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar hockey team continued to play well, as they took game two of the two game series at Eastern Michigan Saturday evening in Ann Arbor.
Cleary would score three goals in the first period to take control of the game. Devon Campbell scored the first goal, with an assist from Ben Gledhow, to make it 1-0. Four minutes later, Camptbell scored his second to make it 2-0. Wes Smith scored the period's final goal on the power play, with an assist from Levi Herauf, giving the Cougars a 3-0 advantage.
In the second period, Eastern Michigan would score to cut into the Cougar lead, but Brendyn Galloner scored a power play goal with just under seven minutes left in the period, with assists from Billy Simms and Jonny Gardiner to keep the Cougar lead at three goals. The third period was all Cleary, as they scored another three goals. Peter Houston scored a power play goal and his first career goal, with an assist from Billy Simms. The game's final two goals were both scored by Devon Campbell, to make the score 7-1.
Nick Schittenhelm earned his second win in as many tries, as he made 27 saves on 28 shots faced. Cleary improves to 13-18 overall, and will be back in Ann Arbor Thursday, February 1, when they play the Concordia Cardinals in a make-up game. The puck will drop at 3:00 PM.
