(Mount Vernon, OH)-- The Cleary Cougar men's basketball team went up against one of the Crossroad League's best Saturday afternoon, but dropped a non-conference matchup with the host Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars.
MVNU would control the game from the opening tip, using efficient three point shooting and full court pressure to build an early 8-0 lead. Cleary would climb back, getting as close as 13-15 before the host Cougars closed the first half on a 38-10 run to make the score 53-23 at the break.
The second half would show a better offensive attack for Cleary, but the deficit would be too great to overcome, as MVNU went on to win 102-60.
Cleary had two players reach double-figures, as Bennie Crenshaw Jr. and Chris Williams each had 11 points to lead the Cleary attack. Jaylen Cole-Williams added 8 points and 3 steals, while Brockton Kohler and Anthony Ivey chipped in 7 points each. Case Conley had a team high 8 rebounds.
Cleary drops to 0-8 on the season, and will be back in action on Saturday, December 9, when they take on the UNOH Racers in a WHAC matchup in Lima, Ohio. The game is set to begin at 3:00 PM ET.
