(Lansing, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's basketball team started off the first game of 2024 slow, as they suffered a WHAC defeat to the visiting Cornerstone Golden Eagles Wednesday evening in Lansing.
Cornerstone would use a 27-0 run to start the game to take control, as Cleary was unable to score until 7:30 seconds left in the first half, en route to a 73-40 loss. Cornerstone would hold Cleary to 23.8% shooting from the field, and a 50-27 rebound advantage to control the game.
Cleary was led by Tim Kewley who had 8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 block off the bench. Six Cougars had 5 points, including Jaylen Cole-Williams, Bennie Crenshaw Jr., Chris Williams, Anthony Ivey, Ashton Tomassi, and Tyree Jones.
The loss drops Cleary's record to 0-12 overall, 0-7 in the WHAC. The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday with a road game at Concordia.
