Warrior Defense Slows Down Men's Basketball
(Fort Wayne, IN)-- The Cleary Cougar men's basketball team just never got the offense going, as they fell on the road to the Indiana Tech Warriors Wednesday evening in Ft. Wayne.
Case Conley got the game started with a made three pointer, and Jaylen Cole-Williams would add another three just moments later to expand Cleary's lead to 6-1, but the Warriors defense would turn up their energy and the Cougars would go cold from the floor, as the lead quickly disappeared for the Cougars. Cleary's defense would do the job, holding the Warriors to 31 points in the first half, but Cleary would shoot 5-29 overall (17%), and 2-17 from behind the arc, as the Cougars trailed 31-16 at the break.
The second half would see the Cougars offense start to get going, but not before the Warriors expanded their lead to 25, before some late baskets were scored by Cleary to cut into the deficit, as Indiana Tech would go on to win 75-57.
Case Conley would lead the Cleary offense with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, while hitting on 3-5 from deep. Jaylen Cole-Williams would be the only other Cougar to reach double-figures, as he scored 10 points and added 2 assists. Eleven out of twelve Cougars that played would find the scorebook.
Cleary was held to 32% shooting in the game, and 6-33 from three point range. Indiana Tech shot 51% from the floor.
Cleary falls to 1-17 overall, 1-12 in the WHAC. The Cougars will be back at Gannon Gymnasium on Saturday to take on the UNOH Racers at 7:30 PM.
