(Lansing, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's basketball team struggled early, as the hot-shooting Rochester Christian Warriors earned a 92-58 victory over Cleary in the two team's WHAC matchup Wednesday evening.
Chris Williams made a pair of free throws to give the Cougars an early 2-0 lead, but the Warriors would stifle the Cougar attack, and built a double-digit advantage of their own. The Warrior lead would get cut to single digits after Tyree Jones hit a jumper with just over eleven minutes in the first half, but RCU would continue to knock down shots from the perimeter, and they regained their double-digit advantage, and more, as Cleary went into the half trailing. RCU would continue where they left off in the second half, as Cleary failed to mount a comeback.
Chris Williams and Bennie Crenshaw Jr. each had 11 points to lead CU, while Jaylen Cole-Williams added 10 points. The loss drops Cleary's record to 2-10 overall, 1-5 in the WHAC. Cleary will return to action next Friday, December 27, when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the NCAA D1 Duquesne Dukes on ESPN+. The game is slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
