Cleary Announces Dann to Lead Bowling Programs

(Howell, MI)-- Senior Vice President for Campus Operations and Director of Athletics Heather Bateman has announced the hiring of Hayley Dann to lead the men's and women's bowling programs at Cleary.  

A native of Piqua, Ohio, Dann played collegiately at St. Ambrose University for four seasons, helping the Bees earn a 4th place finish during her senior season. Dann was a member of two national qualifying teams at St. Ambrose, appearing in 2015 and 2018. She also helped the Bees to a #3 ranking in 2017.  She noted the potential and opportunity as two factors in drawing her to Cleary, "Cleary reminds me of my own 'small school' experience at St. Ambrose. As an NAIA school, I notice so many similarities, and I appreciate that. The campus is intimate and welcoming, where everyone knows each other's names."

Dann is wasting no time identifying potential student-athletes to join the Cougar bowling program. When describing the type of student-athlete she is seeking, Dann pointed to character and fit as being key qualities. "Looking at the character of a student-athlete, their ability to receive feedback and coachability. What does their high school coach say about them? Talent isn't everything, but the right person can be an impact player, developing into a leader."  Dann earned the Bees' Champions of Character award during the 2016-17 season, so she understands the NAIA's core values and wants her new recruits to also exemplify those characteristics.

"I'm extremely excited and grateful for this opportunity. I'm looking forward to being a part of Cleary University and collegiate bowling. I can't wait to help the athletes develop and grow, and help the next generation, and have some fun on the way."

Dann graduated from St. Ambrose University with a degree in forensic psychology, and she has earned her Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) membership, and will be competing in her rookie season on the PWBA during the Summer of 2022.
