Women's Bowling Wins AHBA Confernce Championships, Men in Fourth; Awards Announced
(Monroe, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's and women's bowling teams were in action Sunday, as they bowled in the AHBA Conference Championships at the Monroe Sports Center.
In the Men's Tournament:
- Howie Hammond earned a second place finish with two games of 237-243 to total 480 pins.
- In third place was AJ Clark, who bowled games of 256-221
- In 9th place was Ethan Parker, who bowled games of 246-204
- Xander Finkbeiner bowled games of 181-237 to finish in 22nd
- Justin Perdue bowled games of 203-132 to finish in 51st
As a team, Cleary knocked donw 6,034 pins to finish in 4th place. Cleary's Men's Reserve team would finish in 3rd place with a 5th place finish from Jacob Chouinard, 6th place from Hunter Blackhurst, 8th place from Matthew Radjewski, 13th from Alex Ryn, and 16th place from Reis Stein
In the Women's Tournament:
- Samantha Dulz earned a 3rd place finish with games of 212-223 to total 435 pins
- In 5th place was Amy Jackson, who bowled games of 226-202
- Hailee Hale bowled games of 182-200, and finished in 15th
- Bowling games of 184-193 was Courtney Witten, who finished in 17th
- Finishing in 34th was Olivia Solomon, who bowled games of 138-194
As a team, Cleary knocked down 5,847 pins and WON by 36 pins
Also announced was the AHBA season awards. Earning a First Team All-Conference for the men was Howie Hammond. In addition to his 5th place finish Sunday, he also won the AHBA #1. For the women, both Samantha Dulz and Hailee Hale were named Second Team All-Conference. Dulz had a 5th place finish at the AHBA #1, where she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Other accomplishments from the AHBA season were:
- Ryan Ching was named to the AHBA #1 JV All-Tournament team after finishing in 3rd place
- AJ Clark won the AHBA #2, and was named to the All-Tournament Team
- Cleary's women WON the AHBA #1
- Cleary's women WON the AHBA Tournament Championship
- Four Cleary men finished in the top-22 of today's AHBA Championships
The teams will have some time off before returning to action. Cleary's men will bowl in the Scotty Classic on Saturday, February 8, while the women will bowl in the Hoosier Classic on February 15-16 in Indianapolis.
