Morazan's Free Kick Equalizer Gives Cougars a Draw at Cornerstone

(Grand Rapids, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's soccer team picked up a crucial point on the road, as they drew the host Cornerstone Golden Eagles 2-2 Saturday evening in Grand Rapids.

The Cougars would get on the board first early in the first half to take the early 1-0 lead.  After getting the ball on a long throw in near the top corner of the 18-yard box, Adam Baldwin made a move towards the endline and crossed the ball towards the center of the field, finding Lesman Morazan, who powered it into the net for his second goal of the season.  The Golden Eagles would answer right back to tie the game just 30 seconds later, and the game would remain tied into halftime.

Just past the halfway point of the second half, Cornerstone would take the lead 2-1.  A desperate Cougar team would push forward to try and find the equalizer, and it would happen at the death of the game.  After drawing a foul just outside the 18-yard box, Lesman Morazan stood over the ball, and curled it around the wall and into the net with just 13 seconds left on the clock to tie the game, and give the Cougars a needed point on the road as he scored his third goal of the season.

"We played very well tonight offensively, and crafted a very nice opening goal," said Cougar gaffer Dan Bulley.  "Our failure to convert numerous other opportunities and lack of alertness defensively once again cost us a win.  It's a point in the right direction.  Massive credit to Lesman (Morazan) for his two moments of quality."

Cleary is now 2-5-3 overall, and 0-2-1 in the WHAC.  They will be back at Lake Trust Stadium on Wednesday, October 5, when they host the Concordia University Cardinals in a WHAC matchup.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
