(Southfield, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's soccer team went on the road Saturday afternoon looking for a WHAC victory over the host Lawrence Tech Blue Devils, but the hosts took advantage of some early opportunities to win 5-0 at Blue Devil Stadium.
A pair of goals in the 7th and 8th minutes gave the Blue Devils an early 2-0 lead. Cleary was not able to get much going, as Lawrence Tech really controlled the game, though no additional goals came for the rest of the first half.
The second half saw LTU score in the 63rd minute to expand their lead, and then scored two more goals late in the 88th and 90th minute to ensure no comeback would happen, as the game ended 5-0.
Vaios Papadoudis suffered the loss in goal, allowing 2 goals on 3 shots. Austin Freemire got some action, making 3 saves on 4 shots on goal. Cleary was outshot 22-9 in the game. Lawrence Tech also held the advantage on corner kicks at 5-2.
Cleary drops to 3-7-4, 1-4-2 in the WHAC. The Cougars will be back at Lake Trust Stadium on Wednesday, October 19, when they host the Indiana Tech Warriors. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
