(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougars men's soccer team went toe to toe with the Aquinas College Saints in a physical WHAC matchup Saturday evening at Lake Trust Stadium.
After neither team was able to find the net in the first half, both teams went into the break tied 0-0. Shortly after play resumed in the second half, Aquinas would score on a cross into the box. Cleary asked for an offside call to be made, but the flag stayed down, and the Saints took a 1-0 lead. Cleary was able to create some chances on the counter attack, but the Saints defense did well to prevent anything very dangerous from taking place. With Cleary pushing forward to try and find the late equalizer, the Saints would score on a counter to secure the 2-0 victory.
Austin Freemire would suffer the loss in goal, allowing 2 goals while making 9 saves. The game saw 6 yellow cards handed out, and 25 fouls were called. Cleary drops to 3-9-4, 1-6-2 in the WHAC. The Cougars will play their final home game of the season on Wednesday, October 26, when they host the Lourdes Gray Wolves at Lake Trust Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
