(Sylvania, OH)-- The Cleary Cougar men's soccer team was back on the road for their second WHAC game, but were unable to claim the victory, as the Lourdes Gray Wolves won 1-0 Saturday evening in Sylvania.
Neither team was able to find their breakthrough in the first half, and the two teams went into halftime tied 0-0. In the early minutes of the second half, Lourdes capitalized on a chance, as Bruno Duarte beat Austin Freemire to give the Gray Wolves the lead. Cleary would send numbers forward, but were unable to get the tying goal they needed to split the points.
Austin Freemire suffered the loss in goal, making 5 saves on 6 shots faced. Lourdes outshot Cleary 17-7, but only had a 6-3 advantage on shots on target. Cleary committed 12 fouls to Lourdes' 10.
The loss drops Cleary's record to 4-4 overall, 1-1 in the WHAC. The Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, September 25 when they travel to take on the Rochester Christian Warriors for a 2:00 game.
