Indoor Track and Field Compete at WHAC Championships in Fort Wayne; Awards Announced
(Fort Wayne, IN)-- The Cleary Cougar men's and women's indoor track & field teams were in action Friday and Saturday in Fort Wayne as they competed in the WHAC Championship meet.
In the Men's Meet:
- Jacob Chouinard ran a 7.47 in the 60m, while Matt Booth ran a 7.88 to finish in 20th and 24th
- In the 200m, Nathan Vaske ran 25.49, while Rodrick Campbell ran 26.80 to finish in 24th and 27th
- Finishing in 28th in the 400m was Preston Mackenzie with a time of 57.67, while Mason Wildie finished in 33rd with a time of 1:01.06
- In the 800m, Donovan White finished in 18th with a time of 2:05.85
- Hunter Anderson would run a 5:00.72 in the 1 Mile to finish in 25th, while Ethan Lewis ran 5:18.76, finishing in 28th
- Joel Hartleb would finish in 29th in the 3000m after running 10:14.53
- Joel Hartleb alro ran in the 5000m, and ran a 17:08.82 to finish in 18th
- The 4x400m relay team would finish in 10th place after running 3:45.49
- The 4x800m relay team would finish in 8th place after running 8:58.93, earning 1 team point
- Jacob Chouinard set a new school record in the long jump with a mark of 21:01.94/ 6.45m, and finished in 11th place
- In the shot put, Noah Simpson threw 40:09.76, and finished in 16th place. Teammate Derrick Murray finished in 34th, and Jacob Haley in 39th
- Noah Simpson would earn a 19th place finish in the weight throw, with a mark of 42:01.51. Logan Rogers threw 40:07.40, and finished in 21st
As a team, Cleary would tie for 9th place with 1 team point
In the Women's Meet:
- Rylie Bjorkman ran a 31.19 in the 200m to finish in 36th
- Rylie Bjorkman also ran in the 800m, and finished in 11th place with a time of 2:46.46
- Lauren Gores earned a 6th place finish in the 3000m with a time of 11:02.17, earning 3 team points
- In the 5000m, Lauren Gores finished in 4th place after running a 19:13.95, earning 5 team points
- In the shot put, Carlee Beeney threw 35:02.05 to finish in 13th place
- Carlee Beeney would also earn a 10th place finish in the weight throw, with a mark of 45:04.49. Teammate Amelia Jason would finish in 28th place
As a team, Cleary finished in 7th place out of 10 teams with 8 team points
Also announced at the meet were members of the WHAC All-Academic teams and members of the Champions of Character team.
Jacob Haley and Lauren Gores were named as Cleary's representatives to the Champion of Character team, for best representing the five core character values of the NAIA.
Also recognized were student-athletes who were named to the All-Academic Team. To be honored, student-athletes must have had at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have attended Cleary for at least one full year. They were (in alphabetical order):
