Outdoor Track and Field Opens Season at MSU Spartan Invitational

(East Lansing, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's and women's outdoor track & field teams opened their season Friday, as they participated in the Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational on the campus of Michigan State University.
In the Men's Meet:
- Nathan Vaske ran a 12.33 in the 100 M to finish in 21st. Rodrick Campbell ran a 12.41, while Matt Booth ran a 12.77 to finish in 23rd and 26th
- In the 200 M, Jacob Chouinard ran a 24.93 to finish in 20th. Nathan Vaske finished in 21st with a 25.41. Luke St. Ledger and Matt Booth finished in 24th and 25th, respectively
- Donovan White earned a 14th place finish in the 400 M after running a 54.84. Jacob Chouinard finished in 23rd with a 58.88, while Preston Mackenzie rana 59.18 to finish in 24th
- Donovan White ran a 2:06.20 in the 800 M to finish in 7th place, and was the second fastest NAIA runner in the event. Camden Staples ran a 2:11.96 to finish in 12th
- In the 1500 M, Hunter Anderson ran a 4:33.37 to finish in 14th place
- Running a 17:37.26 in the 5000 M was Ethan Beres, who finished in 32nd. Joel Hartleb ran a 18:08.77 to finish in 33rd
- In the 110 M hurdles, Luke St. Ledger ran a 18:83 to finish in 15th
- Ryan Kincaid threw a 12.62 M in the shot put to finish in 13th. Logan Rogers threw 12.09, Derrick Murray threw 11.06, Tyree Jones threw 10.00, and Hunter Blackhurst threw 7.50 to finish 17th-20th, respectively
- Earning a 7th place finish in the discus was Noah Simpson, who threw 42.99 M
- Noah Simpson would also earn a 3rd place finish in the javelin after throwing 52.86 M
- In the long jump, Jacob Chouinard jumped 5.97 M, while Rodrick Campbell jumped 5.90 M to finish in 4th and 5th place
- Logan Rogers would throw the hammer 36.32 M to finish in 13th place
In the Women's Meet:
- Samantha Hoelscher ran the 200 M in 28.63 to finish in 29th place
- In the 400 M, Rylie Bjorkman ran a 1:10.83 to finish in 18th
- Rylie Bjorkman would run a 2:45.04 in the 800 M to finish in 22nd. Kiera Smith ran a 3:13.11 to finish in 33rd
- Earning a 16th place finish in the 5000 M was Lauren Gores, who ran a 18:49.86
- Samantha Hoelscher would claim 8th place in the 400 M hurdles with a time of 1:06.84
- In the shot put, Sydney McCaig threw 9.79 M to finish in 16th
- Carlee Beeney would earn an 8th place finish in the discus after throwing 38.30 M
- In the javelin, Amelia Jason threw 24.86 M to finish in 9th place
Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, April 12, when they run in the Bill Bippes Cougar Classic, hosted by Spring Arbor University.
