Track & Field Runs at WHAC Championships; Season Awards Announced
(Adrian, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's and women's track & field teams competed in the WHAC Championships last Thursday and Friday, and both teams would claim 10th place in the meet.
In the Men's Meet:
- The 4 x 800 M relay team of Anthony White, Camden Staples, Joel Hartleb, and Ethan Beres finished in 8th place after running a 8:36.83
- Niguel-Ali Curney finished in 27th in the 100 M with a time of 11.44. Teammate Christian Hammond ran an 11.87, and Tayshaun Lindsey ran a 13.00
- Logan Betke ran a 5:37.56 in the 1,500 M to finish in 24th
- Christian Hammond ran a 53.97 in the 400 M to finish in 25th. Teammate Matt Booth ran a 59.57
- in the 800 M, Anthony White ran a 2:02.44 to finish in 20th, while Camden Staples ran a 2:06.8 to finish in 25th
- Niguel-Ali Curney finished in 30th in the 200 M with a time of 23.10. Tayshaun Lindsey ran a 27.10 to finish in 49th
- Ethan Beres ran a 16:25.59 in the 5,000 M, and finished in 23rd. Joel Hartleb finished in 31st after running a 17:03.06
- In the 4 x 100 M relay, Matt Booth, Camden Staples, Christian Hammond, and Anthony White ran a 3:38.31 to finish in 8th place
As a team, Cleary finished with 2 points and took 10th place overall.
In the Women's Meet:
- Lauren Gores took 5th in the 10,000 M with a time of 40:09.78
- Gores also ran in the 1,500 M, and ran a 5:09.27 to finish in 8th place. Jillian Clark finished in 16th with a time of 6:18.53
- Osheiauna Phifer ran a 29.65 in the 200 M to finish in 19th
- In the shot put, Mikaela Casey threw 10.06 M to finish in 24th
- Amelia Jason took 9th in the javelin after throwing 24.11 M
- Casey would finish in 30th, while Jason would finish in 32nd in the discus after throwing 24.42 M and 22.80 M respectively
As a team, Cleary finished with 5 points, and finished in 10th place.
Also announced at the meet were the WHAC post-season awards. Earning All-Academic honors were:

Anthony White and Osheiauna Phifer were both named as Cleary's representatives for the WHAC's Champions of Character initiative.
