Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at John Flaminio Classic in Grand Rapids

(Grand Rapids, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's and women's indoor track & field teams opened up the 2024 indoor season by participating in the John Flaminio Classic hosted by Aquinas College Friday evening in Grand Rapids.
In the men's meet:
- Christian Hammond and Matt Booth rand in the 60m, and finished in 10th and 12th, with times of 7.57 and 7.98 respectively
- In the 200m, Hammond and Booth would take 7th and 10th, with times of 25.03 and 26.09
- Alex Misniakiewicz took 6th in the 400m, with a time of 1:01.90
- Two Cougars placed in the 800m, as Donovan White and Camden Staples took 3rd and 4th with times of 2:07.06 and 2:09.30. Misniakiewicz took 7th with a time of 2:25.86
- Devin Mackenzie claimed 8th place in the 1000m after running a 3:36.03
- Joel Hartleb would take 6th place in the 3000m with a time of 10:14.54
- Jerome Ellis and Logan Rogers took 7th and 9th in the shot put after throwing 11.46m and 10.70 m. Jacob Haley finished in 10th
- Logan Rogers would finish 4th in the weight throw with a distance of 10.39m, while Jerome Ellis and Jacob Haley finished in 6th and 7th
- The 4x400m team of Christian Hammond, Matt Booth, Camdend Staples, and Donovan White would finish in 4th with a time of 3:56.36
As a team, Cleary finished in 3rd place with 49 points.
In the women's meet:
- Kaylie Bash would take 4th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.90
- Bash would also place 8th in the 200m with a time of 29.50
- Lauren Gores would win the 1000m with a time of 3:23.43
- Gores took 2nd in the 1 mile after running a 5:35.59, while Jillian Clark ran a 6:56.37
- Amelia Jason would finish in 11th in the shot put with a throw of 7.47m
As a team, Cleary finished in 3rd place with 28 points.
Cleary will be back in action next Saturday, January 27, when they travel to Hillsdale to run in the Wide Track Classic. The action gets underway at 10:00 AM.
