Wrestling Drops Final Dual of the Season to SMC

(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar wrestling team recognized Logan Ladach and Ryan Weaver as the two seniors from this year's team prior to the final dual match of the season against the Southwestern Michigan College Roadrunners Saturday afternoon.
- Ja'Marcus Smith dominated while earning a 16-0 technical fall (4:57) over Alejandro Saldana in 133 lb to earn 5 team points
- In 165 lb., Jack Gruno had a thrilling match, coming from behind to take the lead, and then earned a fall in 4:37, over Andrew Byerle, for 6 team points
- Earning a 9-8 decision victory in 197 was Tunde Oroye, who earned 3 team points
- Earning a fall in the final second of the first period was Eathan Westfall, to earned 6 team points
- Mariano Lopez, Ryan Weaver, Ty Johnson, Wyatt Clements, and Lenton Patrick all suffered defeats in their matches.
Cleary lost the dual by a 30-20 scoreline.
The Cougars will next be in action on Saturday, February 15, when they participate in the WHAC Championships.
