(Lakeland, FL)-- The Cleary Cougar softball team continued their trip in the Sunshine State, and played a double-header against the Southeastern Flames in Lakeland, Florida this afternoon.
In Game 1: Southeastern scored once in the 3rd inning, and another in the 6th inning, and that would be all the Flames needed, as the hosts would go on to win 2-0 in game 1. Courtney Ture secured two of the team's five total hits, as she went 2/3 on the afternoon. Susie Bielecki, Izzy Easton, and Molly Wheeler each had one hit a piece.
Allison Lesonsky pitched a complete game of 6 innings, allowing 2 R (1 earned) on 7 hits, and striking out 2. She drops to 3-4 on the season.
In Game 2: Cleary struggled to get baserunners, as Southeastern's trio of pitchers combined for a 1-hit shutout against the Cougars. Maddie Campbell broke up the Flames' no-hit bid in the top of the 5th when she singled up the middle. On the other end, Southeastern scored all six of their runs in the bottom of the 4th, to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
Alex Pace started the game for Cleary, going 3.1 innings, and allowing 3 R (1 earned) on 4 hits. Alexis Beeson finished the game, going 2.2 innings, and allowing 3 R (0 earned) on 3 hits and striking out 2.
The Cougars drop to 6-10 on the season, and will be back at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex tomorrow when they take on Point Park and Clarke. The first pitch against Point Park will take place at 10:00 AM, and against Clarke at 12:15 PM.
