(Fort Wayne, IN)-- After having Saturday's games postponed, the Cleary Cougars softball team hit the road to Fort Wayne to take on the Indiana Tech Warriors in a WHAC double-header.
In Game 1: Cleary would spot the Warriors five runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, and were never able to get anything going the rest of the game. Indiana Tech would add two insurance runs in the 3rd, and three in the 4th to expand their lead to 10-0 before the game was called after the top of the 5th.
Allison Lesonsky suffered the loss pitching, allowing 10 R (9 earned) on 13 hits in 3.1 innings. Indiana Tech's pitching limited Cleary to just three hits, and they came from Osheiauna Phifer, Izzy Easton, and Maddie Campbell.
In Game 2: Indiana Tech would score first, getting one run in the bottom of the 2nd, and another in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 2-0 lead. In the top of the 4th, Izzy Easton singled with two outs to bring up Kate Currie, who hit a home run over the left field fence to tie the game. The home run is Currie's third of the season, second to only Susie Bielecki on the team. In the top of the 6th, Osheiauna Phifer singled, then stole second to get in scoring position to bring up Mia Rzepka. Rzepka would double to left center to score Phifer and cut the deficit to 8-3. Two batters later, Kate Currie singled to left center to score Rzepka and make the score 8-4. Indiana Tech would get out of the jam, and then scored two runs in the bottom of the 6th to regain their advantage, and held on to win 10-4.
