Park
(Cocoa, FL)—In day two of Cleary softball's spring trip, they played back to back this morning at 9 and 11:30am. Their opponents for today were Park University (MO) and a rematch against Florida National.
In Game 1 vs. Park: Despite a hard played game Cleary fell to the Pirates in a 5-2 game. The Cougars had an exciting start to the game with the first home run of the season being hit by Ginelle Leslie. This is also her first of the 2023 season. Another run was scored in the 4th when Haley Whittecar reached first on an error, allowing Maddie Bunkoske to cross home plate.
Sonya Terleckyj pitched a full game for the Cougars and will take the loss against FNU. Leslie and Mckenzie Latshaw led the team offensively today going 2-for-2 and 3-for-4, respectively.
In Game 2 vs. Florida National: Despite having the lead through the third inning, the Cougars fell to Florida National 12-5. Cleary had a hot third inning scoring 4 of their 5 runs with RBIs from Mckenzie Latshaw and Sarah Cassidy.
Caitlynn Duffey was the first reliever for starter pitcher, Halle Dargie, and will record the loss for the game against FNU. The Cougars collected a total of 10 hits in the game with Kate Currie leading the offense and going 3-for-4.
The Cougars will take a break from the Space Coast Games and travel to Webber International University to compete in a double header starting at 1pm
