(Babson Park, FL)—The Cougar softball team had a day off from the Space Coast Games tournament today and travelled to Webber International to face the Warriors in a double header.
In Game 1: The Cougars fought hard for 7 innings but fell just short of the Warriors, losing 7-6. Sonya Terleckyj started the game for Cleary, taking the loss, and Halle Dargie came into finish the game for Terleckyj in the 3rd.
Kate Currie and Sarah Cassidy led the team with two RBIs each, with Maddie Bunkoske and Izzy Easton adding 1 RBI a piece for the Cougar offense. Mckenzie Latshaw led the team in hits going 3-for-4, and Currie going 2-for-4 to follow Latshaw.
In Game 2: The Cougars were hot coming into game two and adding a run to the board with an RBI single from Kate Currie in the top of the first. Despite the early score and another run scored on a single from Maddie Bunkoske, the Cougars fell short to the Warriors 3-2. Caitlynn Duffey took the loss for the Cougars and through 5 innings before being relieved by Alexis Beeson.
The scoring runs for Cleary can be credited to Kate Currie and Bunkoske for one RBI each. Bunkoske and Currie also lead the team in hits for game 2, going 2-for-3 and 2-for-4, respectively.
Cleary softball will be back at the Space Coast Games tomorrow, at the USSSA Space Coast Complex in Melbourne, FL for a game at 9:00am and another at 2:00pm.
