Team Stats
Saint Mary
(Melbourne, FL)—The Cougars wrapped up their spring trip this morning with two back-to-back games. Although they had a slow start to the Space Coast Games, the Cougars finished 3-9 on the week.
In Game 1 vs. Marian: The Cougars played a back and forth match up against the Knights but couldn't finish on top. Sonya Terleckyj pitches the first 4 innings of the game—taking the loss—and Halle Dargie came in to finish the last three. The final score was 6-3 in favor of Marian.
Despite taking the loss the Cougars were compatible in hits with the Knights, Cleary having 7 hits and Marian having 9. Gabby Monreal and Haley Whittecar were the offensive leaders for the Cougars, both players going 2-for-3. Whittecar and Monreal were also both responsible for the runs scored against the knights.
In Game 2 vs. St. Mary: The Cougars finished off their week with a close game against the University of Saint Mary's Spires. The final score of the game was 5-4 in favor of the Spires, with Alexis Beeson taking the loss for the Cougars as the first relief pitcher for the game.
Despite losing the game, the Cougars out hit the Spires having 11 hits total, 2 more than that of USM. Jenna Wagenschutz shined for the Cougar offense going 3-for-3 at the plate and collecting two RBIs. Gabby Monreal and Grace Pasterik both went 2-for-4 for Cleary as well.
The Cougars will have a few weeks before they play again, with their next game day being the start of their conference match-ups on March 25th. They'll be traveling to Cornerstone to play a doubleheader starting at 3pm.
