(Lima, OH)—The Cougars were on the road playing the University of Northwestern Ohio in their 4th conference double header of the season.
In Game 1: The Cougars dropped game one to the Racers in a 5 inning game with the final score being 9-0. Sonya Terleckyj started the game and would take the loss on the mound, but was relieved a two-thirds of the way through the 2nd inning by Caitlynn Duffey who finished the game.
The Cougars struggled offensively, only collecting one hit in the game. Gabby Monreal saved Cleary from a shut out with a lead-off single in the top of the first.
In Game 2: The Cougars were able to turn the offense on for this game, but they still fell short to the Racers with a 16-9 final score. Halle Dargie started the game for Cleary and would record the loss.
The Cougar offense out-hit the Racers collecting 16 hits as a team. Gabby Monreal and Kate Currie both went 3-for-5 to lead the average for this game. Currie and Sarah Cassidy led the team with RBIs, earning 3 a piece towards the Cougars score.
The Cougars will play their next conference doubleheader at Lake Trust Stadium this Thursday, April 6th at 4 and 6pm versus Rochester. This game is a make up that was originally scheduled to be played at Rochester, and Cleary will be the road team for this series.
