(Grand Rapids, MI)—The Cougar softball team was on the road today, playing a conference double-header against Aquinas College. The Cougars dropped both games to the Saints with the scores being 9-2 and 13-6, respectively.
In Game 1: The Saints had an early jump on the Cougars, leasing the game 6-1 after the fourth. Both teams added a few more runs in the remainder of the contest, but the Saints offense was still too much for Cleary. Sonya Terleckyj started the game and would take the loss after throwing 5 innings before being relieved by Halle Dargie.
The Cougars collected 3 hits, with one hit each being credited to Maddie Campbell, Jenna Wagenschutz, and Grace Pasterik. Wagenschutz also collected an RBI in the game.
In Game 2: The second game was a much higher scoring game than the first, but the Cougars were still unable to out-score the Saints. Caitlynn Duffey suffered the loss before being relieved by Halle Dargie who finished the remainder of the game.
The Cougars were able to pick up their offense collecting 8 hits in this game. 6 of those 8 hits were collected by Kate Currie and Grace Pasterik, both players going 3-for-4 at the plate. Pasterik also led the team in RBIs, collecting to for herself.
Cleary is now 8-25, 2-10 in the WHAC. The Cougars will play their next set of games at home in a make-up doubleheader against UM Dearborn on Wednesday, April 12th.
