Siena Heights
(Adrian, MI)—The Cougars were down in Adrian today, April 22nd, playing the Siena Heights Saints. Cleary dropped both games to the Saints today, with game one going into extra innings.
In Game 1: The Cougars had a six run lead early on in game one, but was unable to maintain it throughout the rest of the game. The high scoring, and back and forth game, ended in 8 innings with Siena on top, 11-10. Sonya Terleckyj started for the Cougars and threw 3 innings before being relieved.
The Cougar offense was able to collect 10 runs on just 10 hits. Maddie Campbell, Jenna Wagenschutz, and Gabby Monreal led the offense in game one, each player going 2-for-4. Kate Currie and Sarah Cassidy each added 2 RBIs for the Cougars as well.
In Game 2: Siena Heights took an early lead in the second game, with the score after the second inning being 6-0. The Cougars went scoreless for the entire game, with the game ending in an 11-0 score for the Saints. Halle Dargie started the game before being reliever by Alexis Beeson and eventually Caitlynn Duffey.
The Cougars struggled offensively, only collecting 3 hits for the entire game. Two of those three hits were from Courtney Ture who went 2-for-3. Currie would collect the third hit for the Cougars, going 1-for-2.
The Cougars will play their last conference double-header of the season tomorrow, April 23rd, at home. They play the Grey Wolves of Lourdes with game 1 starting at noon. Tomorrow we will also celebrate and commemorate the Cougar Softball Seniors.
