(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar softball team concluded their 2022-23 season with a double-header vs. the Lourdes Gray Wolves, and recognized their seven seniors Sunday afternoon at Lake Trust Stadium.
In Game 1: After Lourdes scored three runs in the 1st, Cleary stormed back in the 2nd with five runs. Kate Currie scored on a Ginelle Leslie fielder's choice, followed by a Mia Rzepka double. A Courtney Ture groundout tied the game, and scored Leslie. Rzepka would score on an error by Lourdes' first baseman, and Campbell would score on a Haley Whittecar single to center. Lourdes came back to take the lead with four more runs, but an Izzy Easton home run kickstarted the Cougars rally, as they would score four runs in the 5th to take the lood for good.
Sonya Terleckyj earned the win in relief, allowing 0 runs on 4 hits in 2.1 innings pitched. Maddie Campbell and Mia Rzepka each led the offense with 2 hits.
In Game 2: Game 2 was all Cleary after Lourdes scored the game's opening run. Cleary would explode for three runs in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th innings to run-rule the Gray Wolves.
Caitlynn Duffey earned her 4th win, allowing 1 run on 5 hits in 5 innings. Kate Currie went 2/3 with 2 RBI, while Jenna Wagenschutz scored 2 runs.
Cleary finishes the season 11-32, 5-17 in the WHAC.
