Women's Basketball Drops Exhibition at Oakland
(Rochester, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's basketball team went on the road and fell to the NCAA D1 Oakland Golden Grizzlies 110-51 Friday evening in an exhibition contest.
The Golden Grizzlies controlled the game from the opening tipoff, as they opened up a twenty point lead after the first quarter, and never looked back. The pressure defense forced the Cougars into 38 turnovers in the game, helping Oakland to score 56 points off turnovers.
Two Cougars tied for a game high in points scored, as both Taedom Stein and Amy Jackson scored 17 points in the game. Stein also grabbed 10 rebounds, earning herself a double-double, the second in the program's history. Stein aslo had a team high 3 assists. Jackson scored her 17 points on 6-12 shooting, 3-6 from behind the arc, and grabbed 4 rebounds in the contest.
Mileisha Rodriguez was the third Cougar to reach double-digits, as she had 12 points and 8 rebounds in the game.
Cleary will open up WHAC play on Saturday, November 18, when they travel to Southfield to take on the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. The game is set to tip at 1:00 PM.
