(Southfield, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's basketball team hit the road down I-96, as they took on the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils in their WHAC opener Saturday afternoon in Southfield.
The Blue Devils full-court pressure allowed the hosts to build an early double-digit lead, and while Cleary was able to narrow that deficit back to 16-10, it would not get any closer, with LTU holding a 32-19 lead at the half. The second half was much of the same, as Cleary was held to single-digits in the third quarter, and under 40 points for the game, as the Cougars lost 58-36.
Amy Jackson led the Cleary offense with 16 points to go with 3 rebounds and 1 assist. Mileisha Rodriguez added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the game.
Cleary was forced to commit 20 turnovers in the game, and was held to 18.9% shooting from the field.
Cleary is now 0-4 overall, 0-1 in the WHAC. The Cougars will play their home opener on Tuesday, November 21, when they host the Indiana Tech Warriors at Gannon Gymnasium in Lansing, Michigan. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM.
