(Spring Arbor, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's basketball team hit the road to Spring Arbor, and the host Cougars dominated the game from the opening whistle.
Spring Arbor jumped out to a 21 point lead in the first quarter, while holding Cleary to only two points in the first ten minutes, as Cleary struggled to break through the SAU pressure. Cleary's offense made some adjustments, as they performed better in the second quarter, but SAU still continued to extend their lead. Cleary would have their best quarter in the fourth, when they outscored Spring Arbor 19-14, but the hosts would win the game comfortably 68-36.
Riley Merryfield led the Cleary attack with 16 points on 7-14 shooting to go with four rebounds. Amy Jackson added 5 points and a team high 5 rebounds.
Cleary drops to 0-8 overall. The Cougars will be back in action this Saturday, December 9, when they travel to Lima, Ohio to take on the UNOH Racers in a WHAC matchup. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM.
