(Lansing, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's basketball team played their final conference game of the calendar year, as they welcomed the Rochester University Warriors to Gannon Gymnasium for a WHAC matchup.
The two teams traded early baskets to make the score 5-5, but the Warriors began to pull away, building a 20-14 lead after the first quarter. That lead would grow for Rochester to sixteen points by halftime, as the visitors took control of the game. The third quarter saw the Cougars keep the deficit in the teens before the Warriors pulled away for good down the stretch to secure the road conference victory.
Taedom Stein had a team high 14 points to lead Cleary, while also adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Mileisha Rodriguez had 8 of her 12 points in the second half, while grabbing 6 rebounds and blocking 3 shots. Caitlyn Rayl, Rylee Thomas, and Amelia Storm each had 6 points for the Cougars, and Riley Merryfield posted 2 points.
Cleary drops to 1-10 overall, 1-5 in the WHAC. The Cougars will return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Point Park Pioneers. The game is set to begin at 1:00 PM ET.
