Cougars Drop WHAC Opener to Lourdes

(Sylvania, OH)-- It was a cold and rainy evening, and the Lourdes Gray Wolves did not make it warmer for Cleary, as the Cougars fell 16-4 in Cleary's WHAC opener.

Lourdes got things going, scoring the game's first three goals.  Natalie Busen got Cleary on the board (unassisted) with just under five minutes remaining in the opening quarter.  Lourdes would score three more to finish the quarter, and take a 6-1 lead through the first fifteen minutes.  
After Lourdes scored the first two goals of the second quarter, Mallory Tognetti got on the scoresheet (unassisted) to cut the score to 8-2.  The two teams would trade the game's next two goals to finish the half, with Natalie Busen scoring for the Cougars to make the score 10-3 at the half.

After Lourdes once again scored the first two goals of the third quarter, Natalie Busen scored her third goal, and the team's final goal of the game, to make the score 12-4.  Lourdes would go on to score four more goals to finish the game and secure a 16-4 victory.

Kennedy Stilson made 8 saves in goal, but took the loss, to drop her record to 1-3 on the season.  Natalie Busen scored 3 goals on 4 shots to lead the way for Cleary.

Cleary will make their Lake Trust Stadium debut on Wednesday, March 23, when they host the Madonna Crusaders in WHAC-tion.  The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 PM
