(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougars women's soccer team held out for 55 minutes, but the nationally ranked Aquinas College Saints made the plays they needed, and got a 3-0 win at Lake Trust Stadium Saturday afternoon.
After doing well to limit any chances, the two teams found themselves tied at the half. In the 56th minute, Aquinas got their big break, as the Saints were able to slot the ball past goalie Tara McGrath. Just one minute later, the Cougars scored an own goal on an attempted clearance that gave the visitors a 2-0 advantage. in the 66th minute, the Saints added their final goal of the game to make the score 3-0.
Cleary's Tara McGrath and Juliana Caro combined to make 10 saves in the game, with McGrath taking the loss. Cleary drops to 3-10 overall, 1-8 in the WHAC. The Cougars will travel to Lourdes on Wednesday, October 26, to take on the Gray Wolves in a WHAC matchup. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
