(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's soccer team had their chances, but ultimately couldn't find the back of the net, as they dropped a WHAC matchup to the Indiana Tech Warriors Wednesday evening at Lake Trust Stadium.
Indiana Tech found the game's lone breakthrough in the 19th minute, when a ball pinging around in the box found a Warrior foot, who slotted the ball past goalie Tara McGrath for a 1-0 lead. Cleary had a couple golden chances in the second half off corner kicks. The first saw a header by Jaqueline Valota force Indiana Tech to make a save, and the rebound fell to the foot of Emma Nobels, but her rebound attempt went just wide. The second was another header by Jaqueline Valota, but this attempt went just over the crossbar.
Overall the game was evenly matched, as both teams finished with 13 shots, forced 5 saves, and committed 9 fouls. Cleary held the advantage on corner kicks by a 4-3 margin.
Cleary drops to 2-13 overall, 0-8 in the WHAC. The Cougars will be back in action this Saturday, October 21, when they travel to Grand Rapids to take on the Aquinas Saints in a WHAC battle. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 PM ET.
