(Grand Rapids, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's soccer team faced their toughest opponent yet, as they took on the #4 ranked Aquinas College Saints in Grand Rapids on Wednesday evening.
The Saints would strike first in the 27th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Cleary would face a barrage of shots in the first half, totalling 25, but were able to keep one of the nation's best offenses off the scoreboard further, and the score would remain 1-0 through the end of the first half.
The second half would see the Saints break through two more times, giving Aquinas a 3-0 lead for the remainder of the game.
Tara McGrath made 17 saves in the game, setting a new season high.
The loss drops Cleary's record to 2-6-3 overall, 1-3-1 in the WHAC. The Cougars will return to Lake Trust Stadium this Saturday, October 5, as they honor and recognize this year's seniors on Senior Day at 2:30 PM, and then play the Homecoming game against the UM-Dearborn Wolverines at 4:00 PM.
