Cougars Place 4 Runners in Top 5; Men Finish 2nd at Lourdes' Terracotta Open
(Toledo, OH)-- The Cleary men's and women's cross country ran at the Lourdes University Terracotta Open on a wet and muddy course, and the day saw 4 total Cougars earn a place in the top 10.
In the women's race: Mallory Tognetti continued to lead the Cougars as she ran a 19:52.9 5K to finish in 2nd place. Lauren Gores was the second Cougar to cross the finish line, when she ran a 21:28.0 to finish in 12th place. Abby McClelland finished in 25th place with a time of 22:28.2, and Jillian Clark ran a 25:33.3 to finish in 53rd place. The Cougars finished in 6th place as a team.
In the men's race: Donovan White ran a 28:06.2 to finish in 3rd place. Teammate Ethan Beres was literally right behind him and ran a 28:08.9 to finish in 4th, and Wyatt Emmons ran a chunk of the race without a shoe when it got stuck in the mud, and still ran a ran a 28:31.1 to finish in 6th place. Steven Bisard and Camden Staples had respectable times of 31:02.7 and 31:26.0 to finish in 22nd and 25th place respectively. Cleary would finish in 2nd place as a team.
Cleary will next be in action next Saturday, October 23, when they run in the Midwest Challenge.
