Coach Bailey quickly established the Cougar program as one of the prominent teams in the USCAA, which Cleary was a member of from the program's inaugural season through the 2019 campaign. In 2016, in the program's second season, the Cougars received their first bid to the USCAA national tournament. The following year, the team posted its first 30-win season and finished second in the nation. Bailey was named the 2017 USCAA Softball Coach of the Year.

In 2018, the Cougars took home the title while Riley Thompson was named National Player of the Year.

In 2019, the Cougars transitioned into the NAIA and the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. In their final USCAA season, as a dual member, the Cougars finished as national runner up with Kailtin Dormire following Montgomery as she was named the Cougars second straight National Player of the Year.

Bailey earned his 100th win on April 3, 2022 as the Cougars swept Indiana Tech.

Prior to starting the Cougar program, Bailey coached travel softball in the Livingston County area for over a decade as well as serving as an assistant coach at Howell High School for two seasons. Coach Bailey is also the softball pitching instructor at Michigan Sports Academy-Livingston.

Bailey and his wife Janet reside in Howell. The couple have three older children: Hannah, Mitchell and Will.
