(Washington, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's soccer team made the trip to Oakland County, as they took on the Rochester University Warriors in the two teams' WHAC opener Saturday afternoon.
Cleary would strike first halfway through the first half when Felix Arndt helped set up Lesman Morazan for the opening goal, Morazan's 8th of the season. Cleary would hold on, and take a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, it was a bend but not break defensive effort for the Cougars, as the Warriors tried to find the equalizer. That break would come through, as the Warriors found the back of the net in the 89th minute to tie the game, and eventually the game.
Austin Freemire was good in goal and made 6 saves, earning the draw. He is now 1-0-1 on the season. Rochester held the shot advantage in the game, with a 17-3 advantage. The Warriors also had 5 corner kicks to Cleary's 1.
Cleary still holds a .500 record, as they are now 3-3-2 on the season. The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday, September 27, when they host the Madonna Crusaders at Lake Trust Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
