Morazan's Stellar Game Not Enough as Men's Soccer Draws at Concordia

(Ann Arbor, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's soccer team dug themselves into a hole, came back, and ultimately earned a draw, as they tied the Concordia Cardinals 3-3 Wednesday afternoon in Ann Arbor.

The Cardinals dominated the game in the first half, and scored the game's first goal in the 15th minute.  The hosts would take that 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

Concordia scored their second goal early in the second half, but Cleary would answer just eight minutes later when Lesman Morazan scored his tenth goal of the season on a free kick that snuck in the lower right corner and past the Cardinal goalie.  Later in the half, Concordia picked up a red card, and would be forced to play the remainder of the game down a man.  Cleary took advantage soon after, as Morazan got forward on the right hand side, centered a cross that found the foot of Thomas Kanouna, who scored his first goal of the season, and tied the game in the process.  Concordia retook the lead in the 78th minute on a great individual effort, but the Cougars would not go away quietly.  In the 86th minute, Felix Arndt went up the left hand side, centered a cross, and found Morazan for his second goal of the game, and 11th of the season, to tie the game at 3-3.  Both teams pushed for the winning goal, but neither was able to find the back of the net.

Austin Freemire took the draw, and goes to 2-1-2 on the season.  He made 3 saves in the game.  Cleary made 7 shots on goal, and were led by Morazan's 2 goals and 1 assist, while Marcel Zanchin added 2 shots on target.

Cleary is now 4-4-3 overall, 1-1-2 in the WHAC.  The Cougars will be back on the road on Saturday, October 7, when they take on the UM-Dearborn Wolverines.  Kickoff is set for 3:00 PM.
