Cross Country Wraps Up Regular Season at WHAC Championships; Awards Announced
(Grand Rapids, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's and women's cross country teams were at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids to run in the WHAC Championship meet Friday afternoon.
In the Men's 8K Meet:
- Donovan White would lead the Cougars with a 27:34.20 time to finish in 59th
- Running a 29:01.96 was Ethan Beres, who finished in 90th
- Preston Mackenzie would finish in 92nd, after running a 29:07.83
- Finishing in 99th was Camden Staples, who ran a 29:19.14
- Joel Hartleb and Hunter Anderson would finish in 106th and 107th, after running 29:56.76 and 29:57.33 respectively
- Mason Wildie ran a 31:06.93, Logan Betke ran a 33:12.50, and Devin Mackenzie ran a 33:30.04
As a team, Cleary finished in 10th place out of 12 teams.
In the Women's 6K Meet:
- McKenna Marsh ran a 23:22.71 to finish in 16th, just 5 seconds behind 14th place, which caused her to miss out on Second Team All-Conference by two places
- Lauren Gores would finish in 23rd after running a 23:47.32
Cleary did not earn a team score in the race.
Also announced were the All-Academic teams and the Champion of Character Teams. Cleary's representatives to the Champion of Character teams were Lauren Gores and Camden Staples, for best representing the five core character values of the NAIA.
To be named to the All-Academic team, student-athletes must have had at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have attended Cleary for at least one full year. They were (in alphabetical order):
