(Spring Arbor, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's basketball team was on the road for the first time this season, as they traveled to take on the Spring Arbor Cougars in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening.
Cleary and Spring Arbor would trade baskets in the early going, but the host Cougars would use full-court pressure to start to pull away, holding a five point lead after the first quarter. That lead would grow to sixteen by halftime, as the Cleary Cougars were unable to maintain pace, and CU would trail 46-30 at the break.
The second half would see Spring Arbor continue to pull away, and the lead would grow too much to overcome for Cleary.
Amy Jackson led Cleary with 13 points, while Izzy Dugal added 10 points off the bench. Mileisha Rodriguez would post 7 points and 8 rebounds, and Riley Merryfield chipped in 9 points.
Cleary is now 0-3 on the season, and will return to action on Saturday, November 2, when they travel to take on the Bethel University Pilots. The game is set to begin at 11:00 AM.
